Boston Korean School History

1988

  • Registered with the Korean Consulate General in New York.
  • School opened with 40 students and five teachers operating on Sunday mornings.
  • Founded by Elder Jason Kim. Appointed Mr. Kim as the first principal.

1989

  • Organized the first School Board of Directors with Elder Lin Paik as the chair.
  • Published the first school year book "Hanguleum."

1990

  • Held the first Korean story telling contest

 

1991

  • Extended school hour to one and half hours. 
  • Added a new SAT class and Tae Kwon Do and Korean Dance as extracurricular activities.

1994

  • Extended school hour to two hours and added calligraphy and ballet classes.

 

1995

  • Held the first Korean spelling bee contest.
  • Appointed Kyunghee Kang as assistant principal.

1997

  • Jason Kim, the principal, received a Recognition of Appreciation from the Korean Ministry of Education.
  • Jason Kim appointed as the chairperson of School Board of Directors.
  • Kyunghee Kang appointed as the second principal.

1998

  • Reopened as a three-hour Saturday school. Added Korean culture, Korean cooking, computer, and Bible Study to regular curriculum.

 

1999

  • Hunhee Lee appointed as the third principal.

 

2000

  • Donghyun Hong appointed as the fourth principal

 

2001

  • Sang Kang appointed as the fifth principal
  • Miyeon Won appointed as the assistant principal.

2006

  • Seongyeon Lee appointed as the assistant principal.
